Vitamins
– the building blocks of life
Vitamins are essential to life and have to be taken in through
our food since they cannot be synthesized in the organism in
sufficient quantities, if at all. A distinction is made between
fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and water-soluble vitamins
(B1, B2, B6, B12, C, niacin, folate, biotin and pantothenic
acid). The body’s ability to store the individual vitamins
differs greatly, so an undersupply may become apparent more
or less quickly. |
